Women’s Activism in Portsmouth (WAP) open meeting

Date/Time: Wednesday 21 March, 2018 - 6:00pm

Date/Time End: Wednesday 21 March, 2018 - 7:30pm

Venue: Park Building

Following the recent award of a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund a meeting of the WAP group will be held to discuss the project. The grant will cover 50 interviews with local women who were active since the 1960s in promoting positive change for women and the community. The grant will be managed by the University of Portsmouth acting with partners Portsmouth Library service and the University of the Third Age (Portsdown branch). Besides an oral history data base there will also be a website, a mini exhibition, a booklet, a learning resource pack for schools and two public lectures. The HLF grant of £73,300 will include the cost of two one year University staff appointments (project coordinator 0.6 and a project assistant/ paid intern 0.5). A key part of the project will be to involve local volunteers from diverse backgrounds who will learn new skills and hopefully enjoy being part of this exciting project.

The meeting will end on a social note with refreshments to celebrate our success. Drinks and nibbles will be provided. All welcome.
