Women in STEM coffee meeting

Date/Time: Wednesday 16 May, 2018 - 11:00am

Date/Time End: Wednesday 16 May, 2018 - 1:00pm

Venue: 1.11 Dennis Sciama

We have set up a free, informal, coffee meeting as a way to soft launch our new Women in STEM society and to get input from other people before the start of the new university year by which time we would like the society to be active.

The Women in STEM group is intended to be a network for all women working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics including undergraduate and postgraduate students, academic, teaching, research, support and professional staff.

Once the group is up and running we would like to run regular events ranging from informal coffee mornings to workshops. At the moment though we are looking for 1) those interested in being in a women in STEM network here at the University of Portsmouth and 2) anybody interested in being involved in helping us set up and run the society. As we are both Physics technical staff, our ideas of what might be wanted might be different to those of other demographics and as we want this to be a STEM society with a broad and long lasting appeal we would welcome input from elsewhere.

If you cannot make the coffee morning but are interested in the Women in STEM group or have some ideas to contribute then please contact us by emailing edith.rogers@port.ac.uk or cherie.morrison@port.ac.uk. You can also call us on 2224.
