Humanism and Rationalism for a Quantum Physicist

Date/Time: Monday 1 April, 2019 - 7:30pm

Venue: University of Portsmouth, Richmond Building, Lecture Theatre LT2, Portland Street, Portsmouth PO1 3DE

Professor Jim Al-Khalili, Past President of Humanists UK, presenter of ‘The Life Scientific’ on BBC Radio4, Joint Chair of Physics and Public Engagement in Science at the University of Surrey, will give a lecture on ‘Humanism and Rationalism for a Quantum Physicist’ to the Portsmouth humanists at the University of Portsmouth.

Portsmouth Humanists is a recently formed local group of like-minded people who meet the first Monday of the month, 7:30 pm, at the Wave Maiden on Osborne Rd. Southsea. Our aim is to provide a program of speakers and discussions on topical ethical issues in an informal setting as well as to support humanist campaigns and to enjoy other activities with a humanist slant. Although we are generally atheist or agnostic, we welcome anybody who would like to come and take part. It’s always interesting!

We are delighted that Professor Jim Alkhalili has agreed to speak at this event, which we are opening to the wider community with the support of the University of Portsmouth.

Admission is free but places are limited, so please book your ticket on Eventbrite
