Roundtable Discussion and Photo Exhibition:

A Joint Initiative by the Development Studies Group (DSG) and the Democratic Citizenship Research[LC1] and Innovation Thematic Area of the University of Portsmouth.

At the crossroad between academic research and policy making, our panel discussions propose to bring together a number of experts to address some of the salient features of the complex Rohingya crisis.

On the basis of recent fieldwork in the affected region, but also in adopting a conceptual and longitudinal approach, our panellists will reflect upon the politically challenging and morally pressing situation the Rohingyas have long been facing.

From ethnicity and minorities’ rights to statelessness or ethnic cleansing, the definition and later implementation of the political and legal concepts at stake in the current global debate is also of crucial importance and will be discussed from a multidisciplinary perspective.
