University to host live election debates with MP candidates for Portsmouth

The University and the local newspaper, The News, will host debates between MP candidates for the city’s two constituencies in the general election.

The debates known as hustings for Portsmouth South – a Labour seat held by Stephen Morgan – will take place on 19 November, and the hustings for Portsmouth North – held by the Conservative former Defence Secretary Penny Mordaunt – will be on 26 November.

Spaces are limited with bookings on a first come, first served basis:

  • Portsmouth South Hustings – 19 November, 6.30pm – 8.30pm, Eldon Building. Book
  • Portsmouth North Hustings – 26 November, 6.30pm – 8.30pm, Eldon Building. Book

Our journalism students will be reporting from both hustings, producing video reports, audience vox-pops, live-tweets and blogs on the night for the journalism department’s website as well as The News. Students and staff from TV and Broadcast will be managing the live broadcast of both hustings. They will be live streaming the events directly to The News’ website.
