Transgender Awareness Week (13-19 November) helps raise the visibility of transgender and gender non-conforming people and address the issues the community faces.

It is followed on the 20 November by Transgender Day of Remembrance, which commemorates those who have lost their lives as a result of transphobia and draws attention to the continued violence endured by transgender people.

It is an opportune time for all staff to familiarise themselves with our recently updated Gender Expression and Identity Policy and expand their knowledge and understanding of transgender equality and inclusion.

We also offer transgender awareness training for staff, provided by Gendered Intelligence, which is part of the Learning and Development training offer. We also have a new transgender awareness e-learning package, email if you would like to register for that.

We also support the LGBTQ staff network which gives staff the opportunity to network both socially and professionally, provide peer support, as well as sharing and information. The network is open to all staff who support its aims.
