Portsmouth v Southampton Match Travel Advice

Portsmouth and Southampton will play in a cup match at Fratton Park at 7.45pm on Tuesday (24 September), with an expected sell-out crowd of around 20,000 people. Students and staff will be among the crowd at the stadium for the first south coast derby since 2012.

The city will be very busy on the roads and railways before, during and after the match – particularly around Fratton Park and Fratton train station from around 5pm to 11pm, which is close to the University Bus route.

Hampshire Constabulary will also have a significant police presence for the match to make sure any disruption to our local community is quickly dealt with. As in any situation, if you see an emergency please call 999 or if it’s non urgent call 101.

Students and staff who are not going to the match should avoid travelling in the area around the stadium as it will be very busy with large crowds and traffic.

Fans will be kept informed through announcements during the game at Fratton Park, and via the social media channels of Hampshire Constabulary and Portsmouth Football Club.
