New tool to help commuters find active travel facilities

A new interactive map is set to help staff and students cycle, run, or otherwise travel actively when commuting to and from the University.

The map highlights the cycle racks, lockers and shower facilities in or at University buildings that are currently available.

The Estates team are improving the availability of these facilities, following feedback in the recent cycling forum meetings. As new facilities come online – such those at the newly refurbished University Learning Centre – the map will be updated.

Keeping your bike safe

As a reminder, it’s recommended that no matter where you leave your bicycle, that you use a D-lock or two to attach the frame and both wheels to the stand.

Find out more about cycling to work, bike security and cycling discounts on the Travel to Work webpages.

New Cycle to Work scheme coming shortly

The Estates team has also been working on a new Cycle to Work scheme to help staff to save money on bikes and cycling accessories tax free. An announcement, including full information about the provider, eligibility, and other scheme details will be issued shortly.

  1. It is great to see this initiative, the map looks really helpful. Is university going to address the issue of security following the recent bike thefts, including from Harry Law (marked as ‘secure’ on the interactive map above)?
