MyPort Hub Network to open in September

A new network of MyPort Hubs will open on 9 September to create a joined-up approach across the University to improve the student experience. 

The changes are part of the Registry Transform (RT) Phase 2 project, which aims to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, ensure sustainability and continue to provide an excellent service to students and staff.

Students previously were only able to access services at their school office. Now they can drop into any of the 8 MyPort Hubs for help as there is ‘no wrong door’.

“I think the support systems in place are very good at Portsmouth. Perhaps centralising support systems in one place, or at least coordinating them from one place where information is easily accessible without students having to chase around different departments could improve them.”

Student enquiries

Staff at all MyPort Hubs will be able to answer 97% of the student enquiries which were received in the last academic year including:

  • Student letters i.e confirmation of studies
  • Extenuating circumstances advice
  • Student engagement and attendance queries
  • Transcripts
  • General queries i.e. timetables, buses, maps
  • Signposting to central services such as Wellbeing, Finance, Housing

Some course specific queries will need to be dealt with at a ‘home’ hub including:

  • Coursework hand in and collection
  • Specific course advice
  • Provision of course specific equipment

The MyPort Hubs will be open from 9 September at the following locations and email addresses: 

Specialist units

Two specialist units will also be created, bringing together staff from a number of departments who previously dealt with similar courses and partners separately. 

  • Pre-Sessional English unit in Park Building – this specialist unit will provide English language courses for students who need to learn English before starting their degree. These courses were previously administered across several departments. 
  • Cross Faculty Support Office in Anglesea Building – this specialist unit will provide administrative support to specific partner courses which are mostly delivered off campus, such as the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS). Currently these relationships are managed across several faculties. Administering these courses from one office will standardise processes for partners, build expertise and enhance customer relations.

      The opening times for all the hubs should be the same and are listed on the MyPort website but I have also added this to the article.
