Learning Centre building gets new name for autumn term

The former City Learning Centre building on Winston Churchill Avenue is set to be renamed the University Learning Centre from Monday 2 September 2019.

Last year the University acquired Highbury College’s City Learning Centre, to expand the range of high quality teaching spaces on campus. The building name is being changed so it’s more closely associated with the University.

Following renovation works, several new teaching rooms are available for bookings via the Central Timetabling Unit, and room details, photos and availability will soon be added and available to view at the Teaching Rooms webpages. The new rooms include:

  • 13 new classrooms across the first and second floors
  • 2.21 – 88 seat IT suite on the second floor
  • 4.19 – 91 seat cabaret-style open teaching space on the fourth floor

Review and update University publications, systems and materials

University staff are asked to review publications, maps, webpages, signage, systems and other materials in their areas and use the new building name from 2 September.

However, we are aware that not all updates will be possible by this date and that some changes will take place in the following weeks and that there will be an overlap between the old and new names for a short period.

It’s already been announced that James Watson Halls will become Rosalind Franklin Halls, James Watson East will become Rosalind Franklin East, and James Watson West will become Rosalind Franklin West from 2 September.
