Win free meals and coffee by joining LinkedIn Learning

As part of the LinkedIn Learning upgrade we’ll be running prize draws every month, through to November. Just activate your account and every month six people will be drawn at random to win a free lunch or free coffee.

Upgrade to LinkedIn Learning From

On 1 August 2019 changed to the LinkedIn Learning platform. Online learning will be easier and more intuitive with the new platform and will also allow users to add certificates to their profile for each course they complete. If you have a Lynda account activation links will be sent via email or new users can register using their University account details at

What changes will I see?

LinkedIn Learning offers a new interface and new features, but still the same content from Lynda. If you had a Lynda account your viewing history, course completions, playlists and other data is migrated to LinkedIn Learning.

The new platform will have:

  • A more intuitive interface, designed to make it easier to find relevant content.
  • Personalised course recommendations based on the type of courses you study and the areas you are interested in. If you have chosen to link your personal LinkedIn account the recommendations will be even more accurate.
  • An even more extensive range of learning paths.
  • Personal playlists in Lynda become ‘collections’ in LinkedIn Learning. Create your own collections, add videos, courses, custom content and view in any sequential order.
  • Curated topic pages populated with the most in demand courses to make it easier to search and browse courses

Do I have to connect to a LinkedIn profile?

Not everyone chooses to have a LinkedIn profile – during activation – you will have a choice of whether to connect to a LinkedIn profile or just use LinkedIn Learning which is provided separately by the University.

If you do choose to link to a LinkedIn profile:

  • The University do not see any information from your personal LinkedIn account, only the profile picture.
  • You’ll get a more personalised learning experience that includes recommendations based on job title, skills and industry from your profile.
  • There will be more relevant insights into learning trends and what your contacts and key people with similar interests are recommending.
  • LinkedIn Learning certificates of completion can be added to a personal profile. If you later get LinkedIn Learning after leaving the University, you will be able to match up your learning history.
