Gamejam 2019

Expect board games, card games, virtual reality, multiplayer games and much more at this year’s University Gamejam, running 17-21 June.

Around 120 students, staff, alumni, and industry visitors will be forming teams to create the best computer games they can in just a week. There’s a range of awards up for grabs, including one for engagement with diversity, inspired by the University’s commitment to Athena SWAN values.

We will once again be welcoming teams from Fareham College and Chichester College. This expands on our commitment to engaging with both potential university students and alumni from CCI.

On the last day of the competition, the games are judged by a panel of industry experts, special guests and members of the public. This provides a great networking opportunity for students and staff alike, and is very effective for students connect with local employers. All are welcome to attend this playtesting event, from 1pm on Friday 21st June, in the Eldon Building’s multimedia labs on the first floor.

Throughout the week the event’s sponsor Game Over cafe will also be in the foyer of Eldon building, offering free retro gaming experiences for all. All are welcome to enjoy this as a team building experience or just come and have some nostalgic fun.

This year, there will also be free guest talks after the event open to all. These include talks from women in games, motion capture specialists and a writer who uses Twine to create interactive stories. To find out more and book your ticket visit Eventbrite.
