Free bike lights and locks for students and staff at free cycle training sessions

Free bike lights, locks and bike bells are being offered to University students and staff who complete free cycle training.

The training is one of a number of schemes introduced by Portsmouth City Council to reduce pollution levels and improve air quality.

The free bike accessories will be provided to all staff and students who take part in one of two types of free training.

Free Basic Bike Maintenance Training

The two-hour course will provide you with:

  • Understanding of how to do a pre-ride check on your bike
  • Learn the A-B-C of bike maintenance
  • Know what basic tools are needed to do the majority of tasks, without spending a fortune
  • Learn how to fix a puncture or oil your chain

Free Cycle Training

This is a practical session to improve confidence and skills and enable you to cycle safely around the city. Whether you’re a non-rider, new to cycling or want to move to an advanced level, this training can help.

On the training you can also plan and practice any routes you want to take around Portsmouth. Attend for a one-to-one session with an instructor or with a group of friends.
