Do you want to be at the forefront of research that tackles some of the world’s problems?

PhD Candidate, Harry Austin

If you are currently on a Master’s programme, you’re probably thinking about what to do after finishing your course. Have you considered doing a PhD?

A PhD is a globally recognised postgraduate degree that involves extensive and original research into your specific chosen field. Through your PhD, you’ll make an important contribution to research – like current PhD candidate Harry Austin, whose work with Prof John Mcgeehan is helping to tackle the world’s plastic pollution problem. Now Harry is characterising the new plastic-eating enzyme, so it can be engineered. He explains, “The aim is to get it to work faster and last longer. This research gives the potential to make any plastic 100 per cent recyclable.”

If you want to be part of our thriving research community, we offer over 30 fully-funded studentships for full time PhD programmes starting in October 2019.  You can explore the projects and find out how to apply at www.port.ac.uk/pgrfeesandfunding

Application deadline
The deadline for completed applications is Sunday 17 February 2019 (midnight).
