NSS starts next week – the first of three major student surveys

The National Student Survey (NSS) returns on 21 January 2019 – the first of three major surveys for students at Portsmouth.

Student feedback is very important to us as it informs how we further improve our courses, invest in facilities and develop the whole student experience at Portsmouth. For example, in the past we have delivered the following in response to student feedback:

  • Ensured that the Library is open 24/7 during term time.
  • Invested £1.5 million a year on laptops, computers and the latest software.
  • Introduced mid-teaching block consolidation weeks for learning activities, such as fieldwork, work-based learning or just catching up on coursework.

National Student Survey (NSS) – final-year undergraduates

From next week, Ipsos MORI will email final-year undergraduates a link to the NSS, which needs to be completed by 30 April. Eligible students can also access the survey directly at www.thestudentsurvey.com.

Last year over 320,000 students took part nationally in the annual survey, including over 3,700 from Portsmouth. The results are published on the Unistats website and can help prospective students when choosing which institution to go to and what course to study.

The survey should only take 10 minutes and students will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win one of the following:

  • 1 x £1,000 One4All gift card accepted in 130 stores
  • 4 x Graduation packages (includes tickets and photos)
  • 5 x £50 Amazon vouchers
  • 10 x £25 Pizza Hut vouchers

More information about the NSS is available at MyPort, on the DCQE webpages and www.thestudentsurvey.com.

UK Engagement Survey – first and second year undergraduates

The UK Engagement Survey is a national survey co-ordinated by Advance HE for first and second year undergraduates.

Eligible students will be emailed personalised links to the survey which will run from 25 February to 13 May. Further details will be made available nearer the time, including details of a prize draw with a top prize of £1,000.

PGT Survey – postgraduate taught students

From April, the Office for Students (OfS) will conduct a short sample survey of students on postgraduate taught courses at English higher education providers, including Portsmouth. Further details from the OfS will be shared when available.
