Christmas in UoP Global – The Reverse Advent Calendar is back and we need your help!

Following last year’s successful reverse advent calendar, UoP Global are collecting items throughout the months of November and December to support the local community.

If you haven’t heard about ‘The Reverse Advent Calendar’, it’s quite simple. The aim is to put a donation in a box every day to provide a little something for those in need.

We are collecting for the LifeHouse, a local support centre that aims to target immediate need and issues surrounding homelessness in the city.

We’ll be collecting donations in UoP Global, based in Nuffield Centre, and there will be a collection point in Santander in Commercial Road. The collection points will be open 19 November – 20 December. All the donations will be collected from Nuffield Building before Christmas Day.

If you’d like to start your own box or join in with UoP Global, here are some items the LifeHouse needs this winter:

  • Boxed cakes, chocolates and biscuits
  • Canned goods: tuna, beans, rice pudding, soups etc
  • Coffee, Tea, UHT Milk
  • Toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, sanitary towels, tampons, toothpaste, shower gel, razors
  • Unwanted, unopened gifts, such as socks and games
  • Gloves, hats, scarfs, socks and pants

Winter can be a tough time for people living in poverty and small gestures like this can make a real difference.

Christmas Jumper Day and UoP Global Open House (1-3pm) – Friday 14 December

UoP Global will also be joining thousands of people around the country again and putting on our Christmas Jumpers to raise money for Save the Children. Each team member is encouraged to donate £2. Last year we had onesies and flashing lights so we’re looking forward to see what is being modelled this year.

We’ll also be opening our office and inviting staff from across the University to join us between 1-3pm to find out a bit more about what we do and share in the festive cheer. You’ll find us on the first floor of the Nuffield Building.

Pop along and say hi, wear your Christmas Jumper, donate to a good cause, and get to know us! We’ll have cake too, so make sure you come along and bring your colleagues as well!

Check out our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts (@uopglobal) on the day for our pictures and videos. Tag your own pictures to #ChristmasJumperDay. Don’t forget to tag us in too so we can see what is happening around campus #uopglobal.

If you would like more information about how to get involved with the reverse advent calendar or request a poster or ask for details about Christmas Jumper Day, please email

  1. Hi

Do you know if Lifehouse will also be happy to accept animal food as there are many homeless people in Portsmouth who also have dogs

    Please let me know, thanks

    • The LifeHouse have said they don’t have many people with pets now so they don’t need pet food but suggested you could try approaching Kings Church who may need this.
