Evening Songs with the University of Portsmouth Choirs

The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries presents the University of Portsmouth‘s next choir performance called ‘Evening Songs with the University of Portsmouth choirs’.

Sunday 2 December 2018, 3:30pm – Holy Trinity Church, Gosport, PO12 1HL

This term’s concert will feature the University of Portsmouth Choir and the University of Portsmouth Student Chorus, accompanied by Anthony Groves on piano and organ, under the direction of Dr George Burrows.

The programme is a diverse one in several senses.  At the heart of the programme is the sumptuous Soir Sur La Plaine by the extraordinary French composer, Lilli Boulanger (2018 marks the centenary of her death), Joseph Rheinberger’s Abendlied and Johannes Brahms’ Der Abend.

Soprano Rebecca Silverman will sing the solos in the Boulanger and in Laudate Dominum from Mozart’s Vespers.

Alongside such ‘classics’ the choir will sing contemporary pieces by such figures as Will Todd, Ruth Morris Gray and the African-American composer-arranger, Victor C. Johnson.  There is something for everyone in this musical feast about eventide.

This performance is free, and everyone is welcome.
