Student survey on new University Bus Service

The Students’ Union has been asked to provide independent feedback and present the student voice on the changed University bus route pilot scheme.

The University’s bus service is provided to help both students and staff travel to and from the University. The circular route runs Monday to Friday from 7:36am with the last stop after midnight at 12.34am on a term timetable until 15 December.

About the service:

  • Free for students and staff if they show their staff/student ID cards
  • Seats are available on a first come first served basis
  • Seating capacity of the buses cannot be exceeded
  • Not operational on public holidays (e.g. Bank holidays)
  • A new circular route has been designed and launched as a pilot for the new academic year (2018/2019).

The University will be regularly assessing the bus service as part of an ongoing review. If you’d like to submit any feedback to the University about the bus service, please fill out this survey, which should take around 5 minutes to complete. The survey closing date is 26 October.

  1. Bus service is excellent – would be even better if they were also buses at the weekend!

  2. I’ve posted my comments on UoP opinions fb page, why has the decision been taken not to let dependents on the university bus? I can understand it’s not a free service for members of the public but a few staff and students sometimes use the service with children. Or is it that the drivers have misinterpreted “no guests” policy. We talk Athena Swan, family friendly policy and positive action but in reality miss the point when such decisions are made.

    • Thanks for your comment Denise. There have been concerns that the new University Bus Service, which is being piloted this term, would become too popular and that many students would be left behind at bus stops unable to get to lectures. Although staff can use the University Bus it’s primarily for students to use for University activities. However, Estates & Campus Services have listened to feedback, are reviewing passenger figures and will be working with the Students’ Union to see whether this rule can be relaxed for dependants. Clearer guidance will be provided as soon as possible. Feedback can also be left via the Students’ Union survey mentioned in this news article – just type in STAFF when the survey asks about Student ID. The survey closes on 26 October. Here’s a link Thanks again
