After these first few weeks, you are hopefully enjoying University and finding your way around the IT facilities provided for you at the University.

We have a range of digital skills and IT training opportunities that are available to you while you are here, all designed to help with studies, help with placement opportunities and employability. All free.


Lynda.com is a high quality, online training website offering over 10,000 courses on business, technical and creative skills and is free to all students and staff. Courses can be studied anytime, on any device and provide a certificate of completion which can be added to LinkedIn.

Student IT Training

Information Services have set up training sessions for students. These are on common applications such as Google Drive, Excel, Word and will hopefully help with digital skills for studying as well those needed for placements and employability. There are instructor led and online options, to book on sessions check the calendar and book through Eventbrite.

Digital Skills Certificate

Designed to promote digital capability for study and employability, the Digital Skills Certificate is Moodle based and uses resources from Lynda.com. It is online and therefore can be studied anytime, anywhere and at your own pace. Based on the Jisc Digital Capability Framework, a certificate is gained after completing a course from each module of the framework, this can be added to LinkedIn and will go on the HEAR transcript.
