University’s new website wins a gold award

Our new University website has won gold in the General Website School/University Category at the W³ Awards, for our digital agency Jaywing.

The W³ awards celebrate digital excellence by honouring outstanding websites created by some of the best interactive agencies, designers, and creators worldwide. The awards are judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from organisations such as Microsoft, Disney and Wired.

Our Web Transformation Team worked closely with Jaywing to deliver the first release of the website which is primarily focussed on student recruitment (Undergraduate, Postgraduate and some Postgraduate Research) with some Research and Innovation content. The writing, imagery and designs reflect the new brand and tone of voice. Amends and updates are easy to deploy, which is a significant improvement on our old site.

Dorothy Albrecht, Director of Marketing, Advancement and Communications, said: “We’re delighted that the quality of our new website is already being recognised. We are working in a competitive market, so it’s crucial that we raise the bar in our digital marketing. I’m very proud of the team who are working hard on improving the University website presence.”

The project aims to have a public-facing website that aids student recruitment, showcases our research and innovation, drives business engagement, and helps build our reputation and brand. As part of the project, we will also have a new internal staff website that will replace Staff Essentials.

Currently, the Web Team are working with Faculties and Research and Innovation Services to develop the content for the release of the Research and Innovation and Business sections on the public facing site. Alongside this, the new framework for the staff intranet is being developed in collaboration with many of the service teams across the University.

If you have feedback or questions about the new site, please submit these via the Service Desk and a member of the Web Transformation Team will be in touch.
