Painting with Acrylics: A Short Course

Are you a budding artist ready to embrace a new medium? Are you a keen painter that has let the creative fire burn out?  In October, The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries is launching a brand-new evening course that will introduce you to the medium of acrylics and its diverse qualities.

You’ll practice using the paint on prepared canvas board, building up your technique through the exploration of acrylics. You’ll experiment with subject matter, from still life to portraiture.

This is an ideal course for people with some basic drawing skills; that way you can concentrate on developing your aptitude with acrylics rather than ensuring your representations are accurate – that’s not to say you can’t practice your drawing skills through paint, it just won’t be the focus of this class.

The course starts on Tuesday 23 October 2018 from 6pm – 8pm and runs over a period of eight weeks, concluding on Tuesday 11 December 2018.

The final session is dedicated to a celebratory viewing for family and friends. Teaching takes place in the University’s Eldon Building, offering an intimate and dedicated studio space equipped with easels and basic materials.

The course is run by Peta Tattersall, MA Fine Art. Peta has experience of teaching drawing and painting in academic and professional development contexts, as well as maintaining her own long term creative practice.

Participants will be guided through a range of hands on, practical exercises to facilitate creative learning in a supportive environment.

This course is open to all.

An Early Bird rate of £180 is available until the 5 October 2018, thereafter it will be £200 until the last booking date of the 22nd October 2018.
