nest enterprise team wins IEEC award

Lynda Povey and Eilish Gorse, both Enterprise Advisers in the nest enterprise team, recently attended the 13th International Entrepreneurship Educators Conference (IEEC) 2018 in Leeds.  IEEC is the leading global three day forum for enterprise and entrepreneurship education and is highly regarded for its participatory style with a wide range of educator-led interactive parallel sessions and Pecha Kucha presentations as well as keynotes led by inspirational experts from across the world.  Approximately 300 educators attended from Higher Education institutions across the UK and Internationally.

The parallel sessions were streamed into six tracks and the nest team lead a workshop for Track 1 ‘Enterprise in the curriculum’ with the enticing title ‘Where there’s a will there’s a way – Igniting the Enterprise Educator spark in all academics’.  A total of 48 participants took part in the workshop which consisted of an initial presentation including a demonstration of the ‘Enterprise Educators Toolkit’ followed by all participants sharing ideas and resources for key enterprise skills.

The nest team were thrilled to receive a ‘Best in Track’ award when participants voted using an app for all the sessions over the three days.  This award reflects the importance our University places on enterprise skills for students to prepare them for their future lives and to achieve the Hallmarks of a University of Portsmouth Graduate.  Many of the participating universities commented that they would like to develop their own toolkit to support their academics.

Next year’s conference will be hosted by Oxford Brookes University and the nest team are looking forward to working toward another award!

If you would like to learn more about how to use the resources in the toolkits, come along to our October sessions at the ‘Innovation Space’ to discuss the best approach for you. Register your interest on eventbrite:
