Portsmouth in the top 20 of UK universities for student satisfaction

Portsmouth students are among the most satisfied in the UK with their University experience, according to the annual National Student Survey (NSS) published today (27 July)

Portsmouth students are among the most satisfied in the UK with their University experience.

For the 12th year running, the University of Portsmouth has excelled in the NSS and is ranked in the top 13 per cent of higher education institutions in the UK for student satisfaction.

The latest results show that overall satisfaction is 88 per cent, which is five per cent above the sector-wide average. These results place Portsmouth in the top 20 of UK universities for overall student satisfaction (19th out of 150 higher education institutions) and second in the South-East region.

University of Portsmouth Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Galbraith said: “We want the very best for our students and I am delighted that our students have an amazing experience here in Portsmouth.

“Students come first at the University and are central to everything we do. We deliver a world-class education, enriched by work placements, innovative technology and an excellent support infrastructure, to prepare our students for their future careers.”

The NSS figures follow closely on the heels of the latest employability figures for UK universities, which showed that a record number of 97.5 per cent of graduates were in work or further study six months after leaving the University of Portsmouth.

Portsmouth’s growing reputation for excellence has been further recognised in a number of national rankings. The University was recently ranked in the top 25 of universities in the UK in the Guardian University Guide – its highest ever position. Teaching at the University is also gold-rated according to the UK government’s Teaching Excellence Framework, and The Economist ranked Portsmouth as the UK’s number one university for boosting graduate salaries.

  1. It’s surely an honor to be an alumni of UOP. I did my BSc( Hons) and MSc Education. Current serving towards social work for past 4 years. The education and support I have received as a student has allowed me to keep going forward.

The university should also recognized alumni students in their effort of creating employment, social work and many more achievements based on their faculty’s. UOP should capture our work and work with us further to position UOP as one of the excellent universities in the world. Other university and British councils recognize other students. We also should do this. I am happy to be part of this to contribute back to UOP.
