New staff development opportunity available

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Academic Professional Apprenticeship. This is a new staff development route, which has been specifically designed to support and enhance the progression of early career teaching staff, at the University of Portsmouth. The apprenticeship is referenced to the UK Professional Standard Framework and encompasses a PgCert in Higher Education alongside Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Apprenticeships for University staff are paid for by the Apprenticeship Levy, which is a mandatory contribution the University must pay based on a percentage of its annual pay bill. This means that staff can achieve a formal qualification without the financial costs, in addition to being fully supported during their development activities, which are predominately situated within the workplace.

The University Executive Board (UEB) has provided its endorsement for existing staff to consider participating in this development opportunity, subject to the approval of their line manager, as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining high quality teaching provision and further enhancing our TEF Gold award. You can find more information online.
