Portsmouth R User Group

The Portsmouth R User Group is a meet up for users who use the R programming language for statistical computing.

The R language is open source environment for statistical computing and graphics. The R community has enjoyed significant growth with more than two million users worldwide. The User Group provides a forum for business and industry users to mingle with academics and PhD students, sharing problems and solutions.

The launch of the Portsmouth R User Group in March was a great success. There were a wide range of attendees including representatives from Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) and Office for National Statistics (ONS), as well as across different Faculties of the University of Portsmouth. We are grateful for the support of the R Consortium in setting up this R User Group.

On 19 June, we are looking forward to hearing from Andrie de Vries (RStudio) who will talk to us about Tensor Flow, a popular framework for those working in Big Data. We shall also have a talk from Mango Solutions and Johannes Hechler (ONS).

Registration will be from 6.00pm onwards and presentations will start at 6.20pm. We aim to finish presentations by 7.30pm to allow for networking with the speakers and other attendees.

The event will take place between 6.00pm-7.00pm in the Future Technology Centre (FTC) on 19 June.
