Discuss the sports facility design concepts

We are excited to start sharing our plans for our new sports facility building and we welcome feedback on our concept designs from the whole community.

Ben Conway from the Department of Sport and Recreation will be available to discuss the designs with you on Friday 16 February in Spinnaker Sports between 12 and 2pm.

Our Estate Masterplan will see over £400 million invested in our campus over the next 10 years. The indoor sports facility is the first project to be developed that will feature an eight-lane 25m swimming pool, eight-court sports hall, extensive gym with 175 fitness stations, climbing wall and ski simulator. The transformation of our campus will be welcoming and inclusive, to be shared with local communities, visitors to the city and with business and industry partners alike.

We welcome all your views that will be included in discussions about the final design of the building. Please share them on the feedback form at the event or via this form

Date: 1 to 16 February

  1. I visited the exhibition yesterday, the concepts for the new sports facility look excellent. I’m very excited about it. There are obviously much fewer parking spaces in the design though. Is there any update on staff parking as this will obviously have an impact on an already stretched resource. All the best.

  2. This is a golden opportunity to make a statement, so it is very disappointing that a 50m Olympic-size pool is not being proposed.

    • Detailed research showed there wasn’t a need for a swimming pool of this size and the space available will only compensate a 25m pool.
