Global Working Events 2017

Equally, if you are a UK student who is looking to work internationally, it can be a great idea to network and make new contacts to help advise you.

At Purple Door, we have a series of events this year that aim to help you with this. Click on an event below to see more information and to book a place through MyPurpleDoor.

Part-time Jobs Workshop for International/EU Students

Are you an international or EU student looking for part-time work while you study? This practical session will help you understand how to find and apply for jobs and what rules apply to you.

Marketing yourself for UK Graduate Jobs as an International/EU Student
Wednesday 1 February, 2.00pm-4.00pm, Purple Door
This session will give you an awareness of how to search for graduate jobs in the UK and an understanding of the recruitment and selection process. It will also give you hands-on experience of job search and marketing yourself through CVs and application forms

Effective Global Job Search
Wednesday 8 February, 1.00pm-2.00pm, Purple Door
Are you interested in working outside the UK when you graduate, either returning to your home country or working in another country? This session will introduce you to strategies and key resources for your job search.

Visa Options with Access Tier 5 for International Students
Wednesday 22 February, 1.00pm-2.00pm, Purple Door
Are you looking to stay in the UK post your education to gain valuable UK work experience? Are you finding it difficult to find an internship simply because of your immigration status? If you have answered yes to either of these two questions, you should attend this session on Tier 5 Government Authorised Exchange by Zenia Chopra.

Enterprise Clinics for International and EU Students
Wednesday 8 March, 2.00pm-4.00pm, Purple Door
and Friday 10 March, 9.30am-11.30am, Purple Door
Are you an international or EU student interested in starting your own business in the UK? Come along to a drop-in clinic to discuss your business ideas. Enterprise clinics are available each week at these times.

Global Graduates for Global Business
Thursday 23 March, 1.00pm-3.00pm, Purple Door
Through this session you will gain an insight into the skills needed for effective global working, with input from Paul Govier (International Trade Adviser at the Department for International Trade) and Peter Riches (Managing Director of Sinoscan, a business operating in China and across Europe and North America.)

The second part of the session will involve a networking activity, where you will find out about business etiquette and expectations internationally.

We are very keen to attract international, UK and EU students for this session, enabling you to share experiences of the business context in your country.
