Students make waves at the America’s Cup

CoJhiBLWEAAdJyBUniversity students played an important role in the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Race last weekend.

Student volunteers, organised by Purple Door, assisted Into the Blue, a marketing, public relations and event agency specialising in the sailing industry, in the Media Centre during the event.

Tom Parker from Into The Blue, said that the event was a huge success and that he was ‘extremely impressed’ with the students who were very professional and always keen to help, whatever the task, with ‘smiles every morning and never being in a rush to head off at the end of the day’.

The students’ duties included hospitality, distributing leaflets, solving issues for visitors and organising transportation of visitors from the Media Centre to the harbour.

As well as being at the forefront of the action, it was great way for them to gain work experience and enhance skills such as communication, technical and general problem solving.

The student volunteers were:

Abby Burnett
Daniel Thomson
Fatema Shabib
Harry Welton
Hatibu Lweno
Mae Webb
Marcin Wozny
Mary Mwita
Matthew Hill
Matthew Bishop
Ruta Kairyte
