MyPort: Phase 1 well underway

Masterplan will cater for students of the future

Phase 1 of the exciting journey that will greatly simplify the way students can access information, advice and services, is well on track for completion this September.

This major change project will see the development of MyPort, a one-stop-shop for student support and advice. Through the new portal, students can seek informative answers to their University life questions from any mobile device and computer.

During this phase, the knowledge base has been procured following a tendering process. Professional Services are currently working with a team of students to populate this system with answers to nearly 2000 frequently asked questions.

Work is currently underway by a student start-up company from Innovation Space to develop the web portal that will provide students with access to answers to their questions. This will provide a single source of information and advice to all students across all services, and will be integrated with the new knowledge base, as well as the current MyPort website which students use to view timetables, assessments and course details.

Further work is being carried out by the project team in partnership with Professional Services to understand all the questions asked by students and the processes involved in providing services to students. This information will help inform the next phase of the project that aims to enable students to raise queries online, to help resolve queries even quicker. The project team will procure a system to support this process, which will be integrated with the new portal and knowledge base and continue to work with the Professional Services to develop the processes to support the new system.
