Association for Research Ethics Annual Conference

AfRE is delighted to announce that the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene is sponsoring the Annual Conference at America Square Conference Centre in London on 13 November 2015. Taking up the challenges of the Five Year Forward View and the NIB Framework for Action, the conference theme this year is the question: ‘Personalised health and care by 2020?’

UK health and social care are in desperate need of the long-promised information revolution – but where is the funding to make the leap? What are the practical steps to reach full integration of care services and information flows, let alone paperless working with fully structured and coded data?

The Creative Network

Creativity in our community!

Do you work in a creative profession in Portsmouth or the local area? Would you like the chance to meet other creative people?

The Creative Network is a group of creative professionals who meet every six to eight weeks to share ideas and information about their creative businesses.

Our confirmed guest speaker for this event is Alan Smith of Earth Wool & Fire, a Southsea based company producing ‘Handmade and crafted items by a Potter and a Knitter for people who love to knit, crochet and create generally’. Alan also produced the original cover art for the very first edition of Sir Terry Pratchett’s Colour of Magic.

Are you thinking of applying to Round 9 of the NIHR Fellowships Programme (Jan 2016) or the ICA HEE / NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Programme for non-medical healthcare professions (summer 2016)?

If you are, then register for the Fellowship Application Day (FAD)!

What: A proactive, dynamic and free to attend all-day masterclass, funded and hosted by the NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) South Central (SC) on how to improve your chances of success when applying for an NIHR Fellowship.  The day will include sessions on how to “sell yourself” and hints and tips for success, with expert advice from RDS Advisors and key presenters who have knowledge of NIHR Fellowship funding panels.

Aim: Applying for a Fellowship is becoming increasingly more and more competitive.  This one-day programme is to give attendees the skills and knowledge to improve the quality of their application and make sure that it is focused on what NIHR are looking for.

In addition to the event, attendees can obtain methodological advice for the project element of their application by requesting RDS support here.

Global Entrepreneurship Week Planning

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a yearly celebration of entrepreneurial activity that runs each November.  This year it is running from the 16-22 November 2015.

The 4th Annual NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation Research Fellowship Competition 

KMR Fellowships are personal awards that cover an individual’s salary costs, fund a tailored training and development programme and fund the activities needed to complete an appropriate knowledge mobilisation research project.
