University of Portsmouth Fellowships well above sector average

DCQEsThe University is pleased to announce that we are currently well above the sector average for the number of staff with Higher Education Academy (HEA) professional accreditation. As high as 62 per cent of our staff have gained recognition as opposed to an average of 46 per cent for University Academy institutions; Portsmouth is the fourth highest in this group in terms of fellowships.

Many of our staff have achieved recognition through DCQE’s Academic and Professional Excellence (APEX) programme. The APEX programme enables staff who are either directly or indirectly involved with student learning or supporting students to gain recognition for their contribution and commitment to enhancing the student experience.

HEA recognition is important for the individuals concerned and in addition, supports the University’s mission to recognising and sustaining our strengths.

The number of colleagues with HEA recognition is high, but we would like to increase the figure still further and see the number of fellowships held by staff go from strength to strength.

DCQE offer a range of activities to support colleagues who wish to achieve professional recognition or enhance their practice, including orientation sessions, consultancy, an events programme and the APEX programme itself.

If you would like to find out more about gaining HEA recognition or enhancing your academic practice, please do not hesitate to contact the APEX team at
