Shaping our Future is now live

Shaping our Future, the campus-wide conversation for staff and students, is now live.

Join the conversation online.

Share your thoughts, vote on other people’s ideas, and see what’s trending. Five champions and their teams will be leading your conversations around five themes for the future of the University:

Our profile
Champion: James McCalman

This theme is very broad and will cover such topics as our aspirations for the balance and spread of teaching, research, innovation and commercialisation activities; the size and shape of the student population; the recruitment, development, retention and reward of staff; our position in the market; our brand; developing a distinctive profile locally, nationally and internationally, and our unique selling points.

Our students and their expectations
Champion: Cat Redding

This theme will generate ideas about where our potential students will come from; expectations of the learning environment and the support provided; staffing, service profile and infrastructure needed to support learning; preparation for employment; provision for sport, leisure and community engagement.

Our place in the community
Champion: David Hutchinson

This theme will include ideas around raising educational aspiration and achievement, and supporting social, cultural and economic development in Portsmouth and more widely.

Our presence on the global stage
Champion: Jenny Morice

Here we might look at building partnerships; attracting international staff and students; developing links beyond teaching; where and how we engage with international students.

Our digital future
Champion: Timothy Collinson

This theme will explore future digital delivery to our students, including distance learners; creating, accessing and engaging with course materials; MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses); crowd-sourcing; digital learning communities, and big data.
