The designer of a wide-range of products – from ballpoint pens, kettles and sewing machines to Anglepoise lamps, taxis and high speed trains – visited the University of Portsmouth this week.
Leading British designer, Sir Kenneth Grange, joined staff from the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries to see the Anglepoise installation in Eldon Building, which was created by students from the faculty.
Sir Kenneth also visited The Creating Balance Exhibition at Aspex Gallery, a collaboration between the Portsmouth-based British lamp company Anglepoise, the University and community group, Strong Island, which showcases the work of some of Portsmouth’s best artists, designers and photographers.
Claire Sambrook, Senior Lecturer in the School of Creative Technologies, said: “It was a wonderful day and Sir Kenneth enjoyed the creative aspects of the city on show. He was particularly impressed by how Anglepoise has been working with staff and students in the faculty, and the impact this has had working with the creative community in the city.”
