Pure system set to launch for academic staff

Over the past six months, the University has been implementing a research information management system, called Pure.

Researchers will be able to add their research outputs to Pure, which will be automatically fed into our institutional repository, Parade. Pure will also store information about research interests, funded projects, activities and collaborations.

The system is being implemented in phases, and in future phases Pure will be linked to finance and other corporate systems containing research-related information; in turn this information will be used to provide content for research webpages. The aim is that Pure becomes the single authoritative source of research information, which will be used to address many of the University’s information and reporting requirements.

With the launch of Pure in March, we are inviting academics to enroll on one of the Pure workshops that Research and Innovation Services are offering. These will briefly present the system’s functionality and allow academics to try out Pure for themselves. For further information and to book onto one of the upcoming workshops please contact ruth.wills@port.ac.uk.

While researchers are able to amend their own staff profiles in Pure, Research and Innovation Services are offering to enter research profile information centrally to speed along the process. Currently, we have been able to populate basic profiles with some of the information held on University web pages.

If you would like RIS to populate your Pure profile please send your CV or similar documentation to pure@port.ac.uk by Friday 28 March 2014, but please expect two–three weeks from receipt for completion.

For general enquiries regarding the Pure system please email pure@port.ac.uk
