Portsmouth Football Club to use Langstone facilities

The University has agreed with Portsmouth Football Club to allow it to use our Langstone facilities as a training ground.

The club’s grounds staff will start work at the facility from this week and the first team will start pre-season training at the grounds in mid-July.

The club’s use of the facilities will not impact on students, who will continue to be able to use the improved facilities for Wednesday matches as before.

Paul Tilley, Head of Sport and Recreation at the University, said: ‘We have been working on this for months and are delighted a deal has been agreed.’

  1. I had seen the article on April 8th with regards to the investment in a 3G pitch and the use for the local community as well as students. With this contract with Pompey how will this impact local community use?

    • Hi Mary. The arrival of Portsmouth FC will not impact significantly on our activities as they will be using the facilities mainly when they are currently empty – 9am – 2pm Mon,Tue,Thur and Fri. The new 3G and other associated works will enable significantly more time for local groups and clubs to utilise the facilities. We already have many new users signed up to use the facilities from Sep. To enquire please contact sport@port.ac.uk
