Call to academic members of staff: BBC Radio 4 show The 3rd Degree

Recording date: between October and December (exact date TBC)
Deadline to express an interest: Friday 7 October 2011.

The Press Office has been approached by BBC Radio 4 to see if the University would be interested in hosting and taking part in general knowledge/specialist subject quiz show The 3rd Degree – a light-hearted show with the underlying rigour of a formal quiz.

The show is supposed to be ‘a funny, lively and dynamic new quiz aimed at cultivating the next generation of Radio 4 listeners whilst delighting the current ones. It’s recorded on location at a different University each week, and it pits three Undergraduates against three of their Professors.’

The Press Office would like to hear from academics who would be keen to take part. There isn’t any pressure to be funny – that’s the role of the presenter, Steve Punt. Contestants are there to answer the questions and enjoy the experience.

If you express an interest you’ll be contacted by the show’s producer who chooses the final four contestants (three competing and one reserve).

Please email sophie.hall@port.ac.uk before Friday 7 October if you are interested in being on the show.
