HEFCE Changing Mindsets Conference

Date/Time: Thursday 28 June, 2018 - 9:30am

Venue: 2.23 Park Building

Changing Mindsets is a HEFCE funded project focused on closing the attainment gap of Black Minority Ethnic (BME) and socio-economically disadvantaged students. The Changing Mindsets intervention was developed in 2012 by Professor Sherria Hoskins, Dean of Science and is based on Professor Carol Dweck’s Implicit Theories of Intelligence. HEFCE Changing Mindsets includes student and staff workshops that build a growth mindset and an understanding of the interaction between stereotype threat and implicit bias and mindsets.

Please join us at our mid project conference, in which we will share initial findings from the project. In addition to presenting initial findings, the day will feature:

  • A keynote by University of Portsmouth Chancellor Karen Blackett OBE
  • At the Intersections: Race and Class in Higher Education student panel
  • Exhibit of portraits, stories, and artwork from the project with a wine reception

Please see the programme for the conference for more details.
