Welfare Knock Week 2: Learn more about our Wellbeing Services

Staff from around the University will be knocking on doors in all the Halls of Residence again this week, for the second week of the annual Welfare Knock. They will be handing out leaflets to help make sure that all students are aware of the support services available with help for a range of issues and have their contact details to hand.

It’s the time of year when deadlines might be piling up, and there are still a few weeks to get through before the Christmas break. It is normal to have moments when you feel stressed or anxious. Don’t forget that we can all do lots to help ourselves cope better. Making sure you still schedule in time for relaxing and unwinding; keeping up contact with friends and family; trying to stick to a healthy eating, exercise and sleep routine; and making use of all the support on offer are all good strategies for staying resilient in the face of these challenges.

The Welfare Knock is also a good opportunity for students to check in with those around them and reach out if it looks like someone is struggling. No one needs to feel responsible for a fellow student, but a friendly knock on the door can make all the difference when someone is feeling lonely or overwhelmed. The leaflet offers ideas for how you can link someone in with some support.
