Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) appointed

Message from Graham Galbraith, Vice-Chancellor:

As previously announced, Pal Ahluwalia is leaving his role of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) at the end of this month to become Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of the South Pacific.

Having undertaken an internal competitive process, I am very pleased to announce that Professor Bob Nichol has been appointed as Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation). Bob will take up the position from 1 September 2018, until we have completed a full external recruitment process and have in post a permanent appointment. He will be based in University House to undertake this new responsibility.

Bob brings an impressive range of research and innovation experience to this PVC role from his current position as joint Director of the Institute of Cosmology & Gravitation. There are many key priorities in the development of our research and innovation activities at this crucial time and as such I look forward to strong support of his leadership from across the University. As interim PVC he will contribute not only to matters around Research and Innovation but will also participate in the full range of decision making as part of the University Executive Board.

I am sure you will wish to join me in congratulating Bob and supporting him as he undertakes his new role on behalf of the University.

The process for the recruitment to the permanent position is currently being developed and will be overseen by the Board of Governors since it is a senior University appointment.
