Thought provoking Learning and Teaching Conference brings together University’s education community

The recent Annual Learning and Teaching Conference gave staff a good opportunity to network with colleagues and focus on enhancing the student learning experience.

Around 240 members of staff attended the conference with the theme ‘curriculum design and student success’. Staff were able to hear from keynote speakers with an external perspective, while sharing their own good practice of learning and teaching excellence.

This year’s programme consisted of interactive workshops and short lectures on the following topics:

  • Student engagement
  • Retention and transition
  • Inclusive curriculum
  • Learning beyond the curriculum

Simon Walker, National Teaching Fellow from the University of Greenwich, delivered the keynote speech highlighting the ways institutions are addressing challenges and opportunities for reshaping teaching and the student experience.

Staff commented positively about the interactive and informative sessions, stating that the conference was thought provoking with positive and enthusiastic presenters. The event gave staff an overview of employability-focused options within different programme areas and provided new ideas that could be shared with colleagues.
