Memory and Football

Research Title: Effect of one bout of cardiovascular exercise in general visual memory and sport specific memory of football player

Department: Department of exercise and sport science

We are looking for participants to take part in a football / memory research study. The study aims to investigate whether acute aerobic exercise has a facilitative effect on both short-memory and football sport-specific memory.

If you are between 18 and 29 years of age, fit and healthy, with at least two years of football experience at semi-professional or professional level, please contact us if you are interested in participating.

You will be required to attend three laboratory sessions at different days. All sessions will take place at the Spinnaker Building, University of Portsmouth and take approximately 45 minutes each.

In the first session we will asses your maximal oxygen uptake capacity (V02max) and in the following sessions your short- and sport-specific memory will be tested after 30 min of exercise (Cycling at 50% VO2max).

There is no financial compensation for taking part in this study, however you will have the opportunity to assess your maximal oxygen uptake capacity. If you are interested or have any further questions please contact Fabio Rosa (up878301@myport.ac.uk) or Dr. Martina Navarro (martina.navarro@port.ac.uk).

Volunteers must be:

  • Age: 18 to 29 years
