Final push for student responses in the NSS

There are just two weeks to go until the deadline for final year undergraduates to complete the National Student Survey (NSS) and we are asking for a final push from staff to encourage students to submit their opinions.

First and second year students have also been invited to take part in the UK Engagement Survey (UKES) and both surveys provide the University with valuable feedback which will influence improvements of University courses, campus life, and the student experience in general.

The National Student Survey (final year students) – closing 30 April

Final year undergraduates are being asked to complete the National Student Survey (NSS) which closes in two weeks time on 30 April. The NSS, which is carried out annually, affects University rankings in major league tables nationally and provides us with statistics on student satisfaction that are used in marketing materials.

Currently around 74% of final year students have completed the survey and a final push from staff will help us get closer to our 80% target. Students are entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a number of worthwhile prizes including graduation packages and shopping vouchers worth up to £250. There are also pop up events in the library on 16,17, 23 and 24 April where students can complete the survey and earn a free hot drink voucher to use in University cafes.

UK Engagement Survey (first and second year students) – closing 15 June

The UK Engagement Survey (UKES) has been emailed directly to first and second year students studying a programme of at least 60 credits, asking for feedback on their course experience and teaching they receive. This is the second year the University has run the survey and the results are very useful to measure the impact on learning and teaching and how it can be enhanced.

When talking with students about the UKES, you can direct them to an email sent to them on 19 March by searching ‘UK Engagement Survey’ which contains a personalised link. Follow up emails will also be sent soon.

Students who complete the UKES are also entered into a draw to win one of 20 x £20 Amazon vouchers. Food/drink vouchers will also be available at the pop up events in the library as detailed above for those who complete the survey during the events.
