Global Week Mapathon

As part of Global Week, the Department of Geography are hosting a mapathon (mapping marathon) on Wednesday 21 February between 2.00pm – 5.00pm in Room 2.10, Buckingham Building, Department of Geography.

You are invited to join us to help put some of the world’s most remote or vulnerable places on the map – no previous mapping experience required. The map we add to (OpenStreetMap) is used by humanitarian agencies to help reach and coordinate responses for emergencies in disaster-struck regions, and build resilience to shocks and stresses like disease and conflict. OpenStreetMap data can also be used by anyone, for any purpose – so might inspire some research projects!

We will serve drinks and snacks. Registration is required to reserve a computer: https://goo.gl/forms/4Z2sWvppmqwK3kiX2

If you have any questions, feel free to contact faith.taylor@port.ac.uk. If you are an experienced mapper and would like to help out, please get in touch!
