University launches Athena SWAN Champion’s Fund – bids invited

The University has launched an Athena SWAN Champion’s Fund to support projects, initiatives and activities which support gender equality and the delivery of the University Athena SWAN Action Plan 2017 – 2021.

The aims of the Fund are:-

  1. To increase awareness of Athena SWAN and embed gender equality principles deeper within the University
  2. To share and develop best practice across the University
  3. To support development of successful applications and robust action plans at University and School level
  4. To support delivery of the University Action Plan, including funding “pilot” projects
  5. To assess the short, medium and long term impact of Athena SWAN activities Projects, initiatives and activities should support one or more of the aims set out above and the Athena SWAN Extended Principles.

Applications which support shared learning or pilot activities which could potentially be rolled out across other Schools, Faculties, Services or the University as a whole will be prioritised.

The Fund is open to all University staff and subject areas, both Academic and Research and Profession and Support Services. The limit for individual applications is £1500. However larger awards may be made at the discretion of the University Self-Assessment Team Core Group, who will administer the Fund.

Proposals for the use of funds can be put forward by:-

  • The University Athena SWAN Champion and Self-Assessment Team Core Group
  • The University Self-Assessment Team
  • School and Faculty Self-Assessment teams
  • School and Faculty Athena SWAN Champions
  • Individual teams and staff members

Applications for this academic year should be submitted between January and March 2018. Detailed guidance notes and an application form can be found here.
