Student attendance card reader recording begins on 8 January

51493On Monday 8 January 2018, from the start of Teaching Block 2, you will be required to record your attendance at all of your University timetabled events. This means you will need to carry your Student Card at all times to be able to do this.

You can record your attendance at each event by tapping your Student Card on the recently installed card readers that are located at the entrance, or just inside, all timetabled University teaching rooms and lecture theatres.

If you do not record your attendance with your Student Card you will be marked as absent. Please note, your attendance will not be recorded if you attend an event that is not on your timetable.

As a registered student of the University, you are expected to attend all learning and teaching sessions. This is in line with the University’s Academic Regulations in the Student Handbook.

The Student Attendance article on MyPort provides instructions on how to use the card readers.

If you have any questions on this attendance monitoring process please contact Queries regarding personal attendance need to be referred to your personal tutors.

  1. Glad you took my advice =)

  2. Well done! Love this idea. Students should be attending classes!

  3. I guess ensuring presenteeism through threat is easier than ensuring sufficient engagement to lead to attendance. Rather glad I’m finishing before long.
