The University of Portsmouth is delighted to announce a formal partnership with Stanmore College that starts in 2018.

Stanmore College

The University believes that the College is an exciting collaborative partner and both parties are eager to work together to create a sustainable future and develop the skills and knowledge of young people in the community.

The University has outstanding teaching resources, holds a TEF Gold Award for teaching, learning and assessment and the enhanced partnership will see it share its excellent resources and best practice with Stanmore College to further develop students and staff. This partnership will provide clear pathways for learners by developing the right knowledge and skills to compete nationally as well as in local markets.

Stanmore College Principal, Sarbdip Noonan, said: “I am very proud of the progress made by students at the College which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff. We share a determination to improve students’ opportunities and experiences and that continues to be our primary focus.

“Financial management is strong and our partnership with the University of Portsmouth will bring together complementary strengths and deepen the impact of research and expertise for residents in Harrow and the West London region.”

In 2017, Stanmore College saw a remarkable year of change. Starting with a significant improvement in the College’s quality of provision, the College received an overall ‘good’ rating from the Government’s education regulator, Ofsted. This marked an exceptional turnaround for the College, which has worked tirelessly to raise standards and provide a high quality experience for learners. The report noted how “the proportion of learners who achieve their qualifications has risen and is high” and “the courses offered meet learners’ and local employers’ needs well”.

This was followed by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) awarding the College the highest possible judgement for Higher Education. In addition, Stanmore College was one of just 10 colleges nationwide to achieve 100 per cent satisfaction for Higher Education in the National Student Survey, outperforming most leading universities.

Stanmore College was also listed in the top 25 per cent of colleges nationally for value added (where the expected progress of a student is compared to their prior attainment). This indicates excellent student performance. The student progression rate to being accepted for a University place also rose this year to 84 per cent, well above the national average for students who apply to university.
