Portsmouth was also ranked in the Top 30 for teaching quality and student experience following two further supplements published by The Times (September 25 and 26). The University was ranked 26th in the table on the best universities for ‘student experience’ and 29th on the table on ‘teaching quality’.

University of Portsmouth Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Galbraith said: “This is fantastic news for the University. Portsmouth has risen in every single UK league table this year, underlining our continued high performance and growing reputation for excellence.

“This continued success is due to the University putting the education of our students first underpinned by world-leading research and innovation. Many of our courses are developed in partnership with employers. We support students to learn in actual and simulated ‘real-life’ scenarios using amazing resources and we provide dedicated careers guidance to students for five years after graduation.”

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide ranking reinforces the excellent direction of travel of the University of Portsmouth.

The University was one of only four universities in the South East region to be rated ‘Gold’ in the government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

In 2017 the University was ranked 37th in Guardian League Table and it rose five places in The Complete University Guide and was ranked 56th in the UK.

For the 11th year running, the University has also outperformed the sector average in the National Student Survey (NSS) for overall satisfaction and is ranked in the top 15 per cent of institutions in the UK.

According to The Economist’s own ranking of UK universities, the University of Portsmouth does more to boosts its graduates’ earnings than any other UK university.

The new edition of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 is published over three days, beginning with a free 96-page supplement published this weekend in The Sunday Times (September 24).

The Times will complement coverage in The Sunday Times with two further supplements to be published on Monday and Tuesday, September 25 and 26. These will focus on the best universities for teaching quality and student experience and the universities that come top in different subject areas.
