Speak Up Step Up this autumn

The Speak Up Step Up Campaign, supported by the Students’ Union, aims to build upon the culture of dignity and respect that we always strive to uphold at the University of Portsmouth.

The campaign begins during Freshers Week with an initial focus on the important issue of sexual consent. You’ll see student Speak Up Step Up champions at Halls welcome events, speaking with students to encourage them to play an active role in promoting and maintaining a culture of dignity and respect; speaking up and stepping up to tackle situations where these standards are not being maintained.

In October, you’ll have the chance to complete a survey which is going to monitor and benchmark student attitudes and understanding of the issues of bullying and harassment in general, and sexual violence and hate crime in particular.

The survey will launch the Speak Up Form, an online tool for recording any incidents of harassment, bullying, violence or discrimination affecting our students. The form can be completed anonymously, but also allows students to identify themselves if they wish to be offered specialist support.
