Your University breaks the top 40!

31065The University of Portsmouth is on the move. In The Guardian’s University Guide 2018 published today, we are now in the top 40, haven risen another six places this year to 37th.

We climbed to 43rd last year and 49th the year before, making this the third year running that your University has risen in the UK’s hugely influential University league tables. The Guardian’s University Guide is used by employers, nationally and internationally, to rate the excellence of new recruits. And we now outperform some of the most established universities.

The Guardian’s league table ranks universities, using a range of sources, including how satisfied final-year students are with their courses (based on results from the annual National Student Survey). This is greatly rewarding for all of us because students’ satisfaction is a top priority for staff. Other aspects that contribute to The Guardian’s University Guide rankings include: spending per student, student/staff ratio, graduate career prospects and a value-added score that compares students’ entry qualifications with their final degree results.

Today’s news reflects the University’s continued progress across a range of leading independent national and international guides and ranking tables for excellence. The University ranks 56th in the UK’s 2018 Complete University Guide published last month. And, for the third consecutive year, the University was ranked in the top 100 young universities in the world, in the Times Higher Education ranking of universities less than 50 years old.

The Vice-Chancellor, Graham Galbraith, would like to thank the whole University community, students, staff and Students’ Union, for your continued contribution towards making our University the success that it is.
