University of Portsmouth rises in UK national ranking

31065The University of Portsmouth has risen five places in The Complete University Guide, an independent ranking of excellence in 129 UK universities.

The University of Portsmouth is now ranked 56th in the UK.

In a separate listing covering 70 subjects, Portsmouth is also ranked in the top ten.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Galbraith said: “It is excellent news that the University of Portsmouth has risen once again in a nationally recognised and important league table.

“We are committed to continually enhancing the University’s considerable strengths, including our excellence in teaching, student experience and graduation outcomes alongside our rising international profile in research.”

The Complete University Guide is published annually. In this year’s rankings, the majority of universities in the south-east region saw a drop in position.

Simon Emmett, Chief Executive Officer of the Hotcourses Group, which owns The Complete University Guide, said: “The rankings provided by TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk are widely respected and cited both at home and, importantly, overseas.

“They are well known for their editorial integrity and independence.”

The University of Portsmouth consistently performs well in national and international league tables, including being ranked 43rd in The Guardian University Guide 2017, and one of the world’s top 100 new universities in the Times Higher Education Young Universities 2017.
